Nigerian Music Video Award-winning crooner Jaywon and R&B trio, Style Plus, have released new singles, ‘Tinko Angel Reloaded' and ‘On The Dance Floor' respectively. From the stable of Kennis Music, Jaywon drops a remix to the not-so-mentioned track, ‘Tinko Angel', off his 2010 debut album, ‘Meet Jaywon' as a single off his forthcoming sophomore album, ‘Reloaded'. The remake now has Tee Y Mix on production as opposed to the beats of the self-proclaimed king of melody, Sheyman, who provided the beats for the original.
Also, early 2000s R&B and pop music rave, Style Plus, also have a new single to their name. The ‘Olufunmi' crooners recruited Chocolate City's The Future Award-winning in-house producer-cum-artist, Jesse Jagz, on production on the track, ‘On The Dance Floor' which premiered on the popular online music portal, Notjustok.com on January 11, 2010.
9ice releases new video
Music of Black Origin (MOBO) award winner and Alapomeji boss, 9ice, has released the music video to his latest single, ‘Appetizer'. The chroma video to the suggestive track where 9ice delivers his verse in English as opposed to his trademark Yoruba lyrics, contains some negative-quality footage and is directed by Sesan, popular for directing many Mo' Hits' music video. 9ice will be hosted at an event tagged ‘An Evening with 9ice & Friends' on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Swe Bar, City Mall, Lagos. ‘Appetizer' features Alapomeji's duo, Ajayi Brothers.
Terry G's lil' brother releases a double
Daniel Eche Amanyi, brother to acclaimed producer and Chante music pioneer, Terry G, births his solo career with a double singles released on Notjustok.com yesterday, January 12, 2011. The two singles, ‘She Too Set' and ‘That's My Baby' are co-produced with his brother and are released under Terry G's TGP Entertainment imprint. The 23-year-old younger Amanyi, peddles his musical career as D Money and was a member of the now disbanded four-man sidekick, ‘House of Ginjah', to Terry G.
Britney Spears' new single blasts on to radio
After just one day, Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" already ranks as the No. 16 most-played track at pop radio, according to Nielsen BDS. The first single from Spears' forthcoming ninth album ranks at No. 16 in plays - and No. 7 in audience - on Billboard's Pop Songs building chart, to be released on Billboard.com on January 17.
The survey lists the most played songs on 130 mainstream top 40 radio stations, as monitored by BDS.
"Hold It Against Me" logged 595 plays on Monday on 114 of the chart's reporting stations, or 88% of the panel. The song's first-day airplay translates to 7.8 million in audience. KIIS (102.7)/Los Angeles and KHTS (Channel 933)/San Diego led all pop reporters with 18 first-day plays each.
"In 24 hours, ‘Hold It Against Me' instantly shot to number one in station requests," says KIIS assistant program director/music director Julie Pilat. "Looking at the feedback we got on Twitter, the responses range from ‘BEST SONG EVER' to ‘Can't get enough of the new Britney' to ‘I need this song to breathe!' Undoubtedly, Britney is back and on her way to another No. 1 single."
