Set accident embarrasses Foster
Jodie Foster sent Mel Gibson numerous letters of apology during the making of The Beaver.
The 48-year-old American actress plays Meredith Black in the upcoming comedy drama, which she also directed.
Set for release in the US this May, the movie is about a troubled husband and businessman who uses a beaver puppet to communicate and stars Mel as lead character Walter Black.
Jodie has recalled a nasty incident which occurred on the set of the film, resulting in blood oozing from 55-year-old actor Mel's head after he hit it. As director of the picture Jodie was mortified, and couldn't apologise to co-star Mel enough.
"When he smacked his head, it just - whoosh! - blood was gushing... I can't tell you how many 'I'm so sorry' notes I sent," she blushed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.areme-007.blogspot.com
Jodie explained the accident happened because the prop department had "messed up" while working on a lamp for the set.
The injury took place last summer, around the time when tapes of Mel lambasting ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva and apparently showing him using violent, racist and abusive language towards her had been made public.
Oksana and Mel have 12-month-old daughter Lucia together and announced they had split in April last year.
Last week, Mel entered a plea of no contest to the charge of simple battery after Oksana accused him of hitting her. He will have to complete community service and undergo counselling.
